Notes from the node.

Short posts about running a small host: capacity, hardware and the things we refuse to put in a banner. No newsletter, no growth hacks.

Posted when there's something to say

We could put four nice-looking price cards on the homepage this afternoon. Starter, Pro, Business — everyone does it. The problem is that we don't know what a 4 GB container costs us yet, because we haven't measured a full month on this node.

Prices based on a guess become a promise you have to keep or break. So the paid tiers stay "TBD" and the waitlist stays open until the numbers are real. If that costs us signups, it costs us signups.

One node, no map

Every host has a world map on its homepage with glowing dots. We have one dot. Putting a single machine in a single rack and calling it a "global edge network" is the easiest lie in this industry, and it's the one that annoys us most.

When a second node exists, this page will say so, with its location. Until then the status line reads what it should: node 01, online.

What 1.5 GB actually gets you

3 October 2026

1.5 GB is enough for vanilla survival with a handful of friends. It is not enough for a 60-mod pack with three dimensions of worldgen — that's not a sales tactic, it's just how the JVM behaves. Here's the honest split:

  • Vanilla / Paper, 2–6 players: comfortable.
  • Light plugins (Essentials, WorldEdit): fine, watch chunk loading.
  • Fabric / Forge modpacks: tight to unplayable — wait for paid tiers.
